PURPOSE

Worldwide Express/GlobalTranz is looking for an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join our Data Warehousing initiative. We already have cloud native data warehouses running built on technologies like Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, and Microsoft SQL Server. Improving our analytical capabilities is a key element of our technology strategy and centralizing our data using ETL development is the foundation of that success.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design, test, build, deploy and maintain ETL/ELT applications using Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse.
• Integrate new sources of data into our central data platform.
• Write quality code and adhere to the coding guidelines.
• Follow existing process for Agile work management and software development release cycle.
• Show initiative and pursue opportunities to improve data delivery quality and efficiency of our data pipelines.
• Prioritize and manage work, adhering to critical project timelines in a fast-paced environment.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

• MS/bachelor’s degree in computer information systems or a related field; or equivalent work experience.
• Strong command of relational databases, data warehousing modeling and architecture best practices.
• 5+ years of hands-on ETL/ELT development using SQL Programming is required.
• Hands-on experience developing and maintaining scalable data warehouses, data lakes with a medium-to-large scope and complexity.
• Experience in improving performance of data pipelines.
• Experienced with tools like Azure Data Factory, SQL Server Data Tools, Microsoft SSIS, Apache Spark, or similar technologies.
• Previous experience with Azure Synapse is helpful and preferred.
• Experience in CI/CD pipelines.
• Self-starter, able to self-improve, can collaborate actively with others in a cross-functional team or work independently.
• Experience with agile development methodologies (SCRUM or Kanban).
• Previous experience in the Logistics and Transportation Industry is helpful and preferred.
