Job Description

Who We Are:

Wagepoint is a small-but-mighty fintech company on a mission to simplify payroll – and maybe even dare to make it delightful! Our online software was created just for small businesses, automating the most “ugh” parts of payroll – like calculating wages and reporting on taxes – so that our customers can get back to doing, well, literally anything else. Backed by the world’s friendliest team, Wagepoint is always supportive, never stuffy and refreshingly human. Founded in 2012,  we make payroll magic happen for more than 20,000 small businesses, accountants and bookkeepers across North America. Visit to learn more or connect with us @Wagepoint.
The role at a high level:
We’re looking for a Training and Development specialist to join our People Operations Team on a full-time basis. As the Training and Development Specialist, you will own the facilitation and collaborative generation of all  training and development initiatives from the beginning of an employee’s time with us and through their growth within Wagepoint. You will report directly to the People and Culture Manager.

What you'll be doing:

  • Helping us create a culture of learning and development; creating and executing an L&D program within our remote environment that is authentic to us, and that allows us to grow at a company level and a human level!
  • Working with department heads to build customized learning plans for teams/groups
  • Working with People Operations to strategize and build out the overall learning program/ethos for Wagepoint
  • Creating synergy between teams through cross-functional team learning and development initiatives such as workshops, training, team-building exercises, etc.
  • Researching, developing and building workshops and/or trainings around strengthening the Emotional Intelligence (EQ) of our team
  • In strategic collaboration with the People and Culture Manager, you will build team and role specific training where relevant for all present and future employees
  • Similarly, Manager level training will be built for internal candidates and new employees
  • Other training topic requirements include: EQ and Succession for Managers, Technical Upskilling, and additional topics as our needs change through growth
  • Own and execute our Mentorship program
  • Own, administer, and champion our LMS (Udemy for Business) including data and analytics reporting

What you bring to the table:

  • 3-5 years of experience in building, implementing and/or facilitating training programs, workshops, learning path frameworks etc.
  • An educational background or certifications in any (or a blend!) of the following: Organizational Development, Human Resources Management, Social Work, Psychology, Learning & Development, Business Leadership, Change Management, Conflict Resolution, Coaching, Mediation
  • Impeccable communication skills:  written, verbal, and presentation
  • You’re good at leading grassroots initiatives and internal marketing; aka: building something from the ground up and getting people excited about it!
  •  You breathe life and fun into everyday training topics and are well versed in the challenges of training in a 100% remote environment
  • A growth mindset and a strong emotional intelligence
  • Remote/Online training experience with various platforms (Kahoot!, Zoom, etc)

What we bring to the table:

  • The opportunity to work with the world’s friendliest team, solving interesting problems together.
  • The ability to work from home, forever! Wagepoint is a remote company, so you don’t have to worry about commuting to an office. Plus, more time with your pets is always a bonus!
  • An autonomous work environment: We’re a growing startup - so we’ll be looking to you to roll up your sleeves and dive right in! No red tape, just bring your great ideas and your powerful work ethic.
  • An endless amount of laughter — we don’t take ourselves too seriously. We work hard, but we always have time for a bad joke or two.
Next Steps:
If all the above feels right and proper, please don’t feel like you need to send us an uninspired cover letter. Just send us your updated resume and perhaps a few lines on what excites you about the job - we really want to get to know who you are, not just about how we can work together.  If we believe you’re a good match, someone from our team will reach out to schedule a call.

Wagepoint is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome and appreciate all applicants with diverse backgrounds, races, religions, genders, identities, ages, experiences (the list goes on!). We are committed to making not only our workplace safe and inclusive for everyone, but also ensuring our recruitment process reflects that. We are a remote company, so there's no need to travel to an office for an interview, but if you require any special accommodation during our recruitment process, please let us know. We are more than happy to assist!
